✨ HighlightThe Missus had a craving for biryani and we were always attracted to the highly bright sign of Hyderabad Biryani House. We had a delicious dinner of Chicken 65 semi dry, Chicken Dum Biryani, Chana Masala and buttered Naan. We ordered our dishes at medium spice level which we enjoyed except for the Chicken 65. We later learned from our server that a sauce is added to the Chicken 65 which we found was fire truck spicy hot. We also overheard from another server that South Indian food is very spicy and their mild with be a normal medium. The service was excellent and with the louder music, it made for a lively atmosphere. Albeit, sometimes it was hard to hear the Missus. However, we agreed the Chana Masala and Naan alone would make us return for another visit.→

✨ HighlightWhen an eatery is top rated by both locals and tourists alike, something surely went right. Phenom Penh more than lives up to its hype and more than justifies any wait time at the front for your seat at the table. By our conclusion, what these guys do right is that their menu selection contain a good mix of both 1) comfort and 2) novelty. For those who eat Cambodian/Vietnamese food often, the flavours here evoke a sense of nostalgia because the flavours are authentic and the chefs are faithful to their recipes. For the locals who revisit frequently, they could always depend on the consistency of the food they order here – meal in, meal out. For the curious newbie to this cuisine, there are enough on the menu that will be unlike anything you have eaten before. So much so that a meal here makes a pretty decent impression of a trip to South East Asia. Their Marinated Butter Beef is a prime example of this. The combination of raw meat and the sharp tangy freshness of the vinegar dressing and cilantro both shocks and titillates the senses. How about the Pan Fried Lotus Stems? The crunchy yet slippery stalks of lotus does a good job as a palate cleanser between the other heavier dishes, yet the texture of this vegetable will often be a new discovery for diners from many cultural backgrounds. Come dine here and discover what everyone has been raving about. It is an accomplished and proud staple on the Vancouver food scene and deserves all its plaudits.→

✨ HighlightMy first Michelin omakase experience began at Sushi Jin. The hostess kindly assisted us in savoring the flavors properly, and the chef thoroughly explained the origins and details of the ingredients, allowing us to comfortably enjoy the food. The seasoning of the dishes was neither lacking nor excessive, making it perfect for tasting the flavors of the fish. Each menu item had a special taste, but the top-grade uni had an unprecedented texture and sweetness, and the bluefin tuna melted in the mouth like butter. I was grateful for the chance to taste even the homemade ginger pickles, which were made with great care. It’s a pity that I can only give it five stars. From Waterloo→

✨ HighlightLast time I came here it was great but this time they had run out of toppings for the vegan dog so I just got it plain and I was going to add some condiments. The hot dog I got was nearly inedible and not because it was vegan but totally overcooked and dry with an also hard/dry bun. I went to pickup my other food order elsewhere and asked my husband to get this one but I definitely wouldn’t have accepted it had I picked up. ✨ HighlightNice atmosphere and interior But the food was very disappointing. From appetizer to dessert only thing that we liked was chili oil. The eggplant was overcooked. It was not juicy at all. Tasted a little bitter(burn). The fried rice tasted like ketchup. The chicken wing was soggy, not crispy at all, and wasn't served hot. Dessert was not really balanced and it was dry. ✨ HighlightThis was an incredible experience, but it doesn't come cheap! If you can afford it, the tasting menu offers a great selection of dishes and their drinks are impressive too! I came here with my friend because we had heard great things about the place, and we weren't disappointed. The restaurant is gorgeous, with a cosy setting, soft lighting and curves, and greenery to enhance the space. Although we sat at the bar, we were able to enjoy the design of the space because of how the seating was arranged. Service was impeccable. The bar team were great because they understood the menu well, explained the unique motivations and ideas behind each drink, provided pairing recommendations, and made amazing cocktails with a story behind them! They were even accommodating with a large selection of mocktails, including ones that were no longer on the menu. The servers who brought out our food were also very knowledgeable, and everything was gorgeously presented. The food and drinks were absolutely delicious! We had an expansive 8 course tasting menu with some light sweets to finish off the meal, and ordered a few drinks each. Each course treated us to a small part of Peru combined with modern influences and inventive concepts, resulting in an engaging and satisfying culinary journey! The drinks were also made to my preference, and I enjoyed every one of them. It definitely was not cheap. We paid around $300 for this experience, so be mindful of this if you plan to visit. ✨ HighlightI loved Guu—it's one of my favorite places in Vancouver. The experience feels just like being in Tokyo, with authentic flavors and tatami seating. The food is consistently superb, and they have daily specials. We tried the tuna steak, which was outstanding, and the octopus with wasabi and tofu with enoki were also fantastic. The staff is incredibly friendly and explained everything to us. The place is open very late; we dined at 11 pm, and it was still bustling with diners. I'll definitely be back to explore more of their menu. Adding more. Sep 17 2024 I love Guu—it's one of my favorite spots in Vancouver. ✨ HighlightWe decided to try Karma Indian Bistro since the Michelin Guide added Karma to its list in 2023. Overall, we thought it was okay compared to some of the award-winning South Asian restaurants in the US. There were way too many items on the menu. If the Michelin Guide recommends a restaurant, I would expect the restaurant to have a smaller menu. By offering fewer dishes, chefs can focus on perfecting each recipe. It isn't easy to achieve this with an extensive menu. We got two appetizers: the chicken 65 and the onion bhaji. The chicken 65 was tangy and flavorful; however, it was not spicy. According to my husband, the chicken 65 is supposed to be spicy (his predilection for South Asian food is strong, and he is very knowledgeable when it comes to the cuisine). The onion bhaji was delicious! It was nice and crispy. The lamb karahi was okay. It had a slight kick to it, which was nice. The lamb was cooked well. The vegetable jalfrezi was also okay. The flavors were subtle; I was hoping the flavors would be bolder. My husband thought the mango lassi was decent. It looked pretty. I am giving Karma three stars. It is on the Michelin Guide’s list, and I'm rating this restaurant based on other restaurants I have been to that are on the Michelin Guide’s list. The food should be more than “okay.” The restaurant should have a smaller, curated menu showcasing its culinary expertise.→

✨ HighlightDecember 2024 Great job giving parking credit to your dining customers. They accommodated us without reservation since we arrived before the peak hours. Also enjoyed the discount for early bird specials. Great dim sum indeed but a little pricy for the selection. Food quality at a premium indeed. Very quick service and fast pace wait staff. A lot of raving fans supporting this establishment. Maintain the gold standard and stay competitive is the key. My rating as 5 is very satisfied Taste 5/5 porridge is top notch Food temperature 5/5 Attentive and courteous 5/5 quick and efficient servers Cleanliness 5/5 Will I return? Not sure for a tourist since so many dim sum choices. However, good idea to taste and see what high quality looks like. Will I recommend? Great to try out to compare with others.→

✨ HighlightTo call this tasting menu merely 'good' would be a hyperbole; it transcends culinary excellence. In the language of gastronomy, a restaurant embodies the quality of its ingredients, balance and harmony of its flavours, chef's technique and unique expressions. Equally crucial is the consistency maintained across the entire menu and sustained over time. The chef's dishes present a paradox: they are overwhelmingly good yet remarkably balanced, each bite a harmonious blend of intense flavors. The restaurant ambience is gentle, inviting while the knowledgeable team orchestrated each dining experience with precision and grace. The restaurant experience is a simile for an unforgettable journey, touching the soul in ways that linger long after the last course has been. Thank for you , for the second time .→

✨ HighlightWe searched for a late Sunday lunch korean cuisine near me and found this small restaurant. The topokki with the cheese topping was very good, with the price of $23.95 plus 2.95 , it actually was very expensive. But when it came with four deep fried dumplings, we were not regretted to order it. The beef tofu stew had good portion and served with korean purple rice. I wanted to say ‘ purple rice’ was the main factor we picked this restaurant. The cold noodle was also good, its broth was pleasant, without strong vinegar taste. The side dishes were good, but we didn’t get refill by the two busy servers.→

✨ HighlightWe had great coffees; I had a mocha which was delightfully subtle; not too sweet, and not too bitter. In addition, we were gifted a slice of Tom and Jerry cheesecake when we revealed we were tourists (the giant camera was a partial clue). It was gently sweet and light for a cheesecake, very surprising- and the form it came in was delightfully whimsical, definitely not what we were expecting! The lady who served us at the counter had incredible energy, and was completely switched on and attentive the entire time that we were there, very engaging- Surprising for how early it was in the morning. ✨ HighlightWe made a stop here before heading to Victoria and this place is incredible! 🥘FOOD🥘: 8/10 We ordered 20 + dim sums and they are all delicious! Quality: My favorite gonna be the rice rolls with Chinese donuts, and Shu Mai! The size of the Shu Mai were triple the size of the Shu Mai in Seatle. The other dim sums were spectacular as well, like the chives cake, spring rolls and the cheong fun are all delicious! Appearance: All food look excellent, I love the way the present the food, it makes them look very appealing and take a look at the picture of the osmanthus cake, that is gorgeous! Portion size: Great and generous portions, Couldn't have asked for a bigger portion! We were so full afterall. Price: the 7 of us paid $200 in total and it was so worth it, rounding up to about $22 USD per person! Definitely a great deal! 🧑🏻 Service🧑🏻: 8/10 Friendliness: shout out to Cindy, she is amazing and she has been so kind and nice to us. I love how she was very attentive and changed my plate filled with tea before I noticed that! Timeliness: we didn't wait too long for the food to get here so in general the dim sum came super fast, maybe within 8mins after we placed the order! And mind you we went during peak hours like around 11AM! Environment: Very bright locations with many windows and enough lighting! I also love their design, very modern and classic. The environment is also very clean too! Location: Great location with many of parkings, well we actually parked at the wrong parking lot and have to walk to Aberdeen mall. But it was really close. Haha I was stupid that I didn't know fisherman terrace is on the 3rd floor and I have to ask a staff in the bakery on the 1st floor!→

✨ HighlightCame here for dim sum and ordered a variety of dumplings, pan fried turnip cakes, this century egg pastry dish, shrimp/beef rice rolls, pan fried noodles, pea tips, tripe, and sticky rice. Loved how each dish came out hot, and I thought most of the dishes were solid. The wrapping for the steamed shrimp dumpling were falling apart, but they were still tasty. The turnip cake was cut into small cubes, which was different than what in used to, but it was crispy and surprisingly tasty. The pan fried noodles were not the best I’ve ever had. It was missing some flavor, and the pepper was too overpowering. The century egg pastry was probs my least favorite. Notes: They accept credit card here.
