✨ HighlightUnderwhelming, as in. Canton Road has been touted as one of the best Chinese restaurants in the Metro. With all the buzz I heard, I naturally had high hopes for my visit. I’ve had a lot of Chinese food for most of my life so I have an idea of what’s good and what’s not. Taste is subjective which is why I found Canton Road’s food to be so-so. What they do lack in flavor, they make up for in creativity of the dishes. I also appreciated the snappy service of the waitstaff. Having a sofa inside the private dining room added to the positive experience. In all frankness, I won’t be going back to Canton Road. The only exception would be if the company was paying for the bill. Would I spend my hard-earned money here? Definitely not.→

Flavor is a bit bland and pasta noodles were undercooked. The puff pizza is great but a bit messy to handle. The teriyaki chicharron was so so. I didnt like the combination. ✨ HighlightLocated at the 5th floor of the New Coast Hotel Manila, the place is just beside my workplace but it’s my first time dining here, and here is my first impression: Food is excellent, with big servings, and reasonable price. The food is so good we ended up asking to take home our “tira” after eating. We ordered the following: Kare-kare - their version is that of a huge beef still attached to a bone 😅 with a very creamy sauce and generous serving of bite-sized vegetables and sweet bagoong. It’s good for 2-3 persons but it can extend up to 4-5. Beef with broccoli - The beef is so tender, the broccoli is cooked to perfection. Pancit Canton- Coz it’s a birthday treat, we won’t miss ordering our traditional pancit, which did not disappoint. Non-alcoholic Berry Slushies - their best-seller, it sooo good-no need to elaborate. Service - 5-star very polite and friendly wait staff who patiently answered all our queries. Atmosphere - formal-business setting, cozy place. I haven’t got many pictures but the ambiance is nice, you can bring someone you want to impress. Overall, I was really surprised that the Market Cafe has a better ambiance than the one we always go to (the 5-star hotel in-front of our office). This definitely made my list of “for a change” go-to places/restaurants.→

✨ HighlightFirst of all, most reviews here are not related to this restaurant. People put that for peninsula not this restaurant called old Manila We saw a lot of good reviews and decided to celebrate our day in this restaurant I was shocked to see the decor and setting of this restaurant. They are very dated and now looking like a cheap airport business lounge. No way close to a peninsula restaurant. The wall was like Bombay dream The music is some free stock loud repetitive music Once again fine for a business lounge Unacceptable for a fine dining or romantic place The service was good until I said the lobster was too raw. The waiter just tried to explain it should be raw. I said the tomalley was too raw and he just ignored. The foie gras as good. The lobster if not raw was good. My partner ordered a puffy pastry lobster and chicken. It was too wild and weird. They don’t match and they put lobster sauce on top of cream white sauce…. The complimentary cake was good and better than the dessert we ordered. The old Manila’s cigar was just for photo taking So in general it does not worth the bill and we are very disappointed with their “modern European” style cuisine Maybe it was good back in the 90s I feel sorry to leave review but they are just mediocre pretending to be a fine dining restaurant and no way that is near peninsula standard (lobby is way better) We paid over 8000 peso per head so I think we could expect a bit more?→

✨ HighlightGlad to know the ambience and the food is as good as my first visit some 8 years ago. The Bellini's pasta has succulent eggplant cubes in a tomato sauce. The Al fungi pizza 🍕 was also a good choice. Service was quick, and one of the few restaurants that can serve actually warm drinking water. The only issue was the super salty minestrone soup. And I specifically asked the waiter to tell the chef to go easy on the salt! 🧂 Overall, a good place to hangout with friends and talk about the celebrity that used to sit on your chair.→

✨ Highlight🍽 5/10 Overhyped and Overpriced M Dining's reputation as a fine dining establishment didn't live up to my expectations. The Chorizo Puff and Filet Mignon were a letdown, but the Skate provided a slight redemption. Overall, it felt more pretentious than pleasant. I'm afraid the value for money just isn't there. Also, the seats were so close to one another… I would expect fine dining restaurants to offer more privacy? I could hear full blown conversations from the seat next to us cause of how close we were seated. Waiters are also not that friendly.→

✨ HighlightI give it a four, because of the amount of garlic skin in a dish and super sweet fresh orange juice. The food is cooked nicely. The waitstaff is ordinary except of one waitress who’s really attentive and professional. Also I didn’t understand Caesar salad. Lettuce weren’t even cut from stem and dressing just on top of it.→

✨ HighlightFood was lovely, ambiance was good, perfect lighting, not too dark and not bright. The price is just enough, however, I felt kinda sad that the food that caught my attention was not available that night :( Also we could have enjoyed our dinner if we didnt felt rushed because of the waitstaff being too pushy, we understand that this is business, but as a food lover and a slow eater we don’t like being rushed and felt like we don’t have peace of mind coz we’re getting pressured by the waitstaff pushing us.→

✨ HighlightCelebrated all our birthdays with one splendid dinner. Never thought that Filipino food could be intellectualized and brought up to gourmet standards. Nestled in the heart of Malate, Manila, it’s a perfect spot for a surprisingly delicious Filipino fusion spread. Local and simple ingredients like “sili” (hot pepper) leaves, “kamote” (sweet potato) and more were elevated to fine dining quality. I was skeptical of spending so much for Filipino fare. But, I left a believer and proud of the creative chef who put this menu together. (Included in our menu were Nilutik, pumpkin soup cooked with coconut milk and sprinkled with toasted palapa; Dumpling, shrimp & mushroom wrapped in homemade crystal wrappers served with soy ginger dip.)→
