✨ HighlightAn overhyped restaurant that is overpriced with average food, average service and average decor. You’d go once and never return. The chicken skins were small portion and shockingly cold when they arrived. I asked and they told me, it was cooked previously and served cold. So I sent it back. Cold chicken skin - unbelievable. The corn fritters were hot and freshly made but bland. Good portion but the chilli sauce was straight from a bottle. Not worth £8. The glass noodles (vermicelli) were nice but tiny portion with so little chicken. Not worth the £14 price. Half a pint of Singha was quite pricey. Toilet was shocking and seat was broken. Don’t believe the hype. Avoid

✨ HighlightExcellent cuisine! The fried chicken is delicious and absolutely worth trying. The bao buns are also very tasty. The only downside is that the space is quite small, and the wall hooks for coats aren’t ideally placed—when they’re full, they can be a bit uncomfortable and get in the way. Aside from this minor issue, the overall experience is fantastic. The flavors are authentic, and the dishes are well-prepared. Friendly and attentive staff make the visit even more enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a great meal in a cozy setting!

Our favourite dishes are the sea bass with fresh herbs, the chicken skewers were very tender n aromatic. Our least favourite is the red mullet with turmeric sauce, just bland and found it lost in "translation." Atmosphere is vibrant. Great job as they kept the menu simple, great presentation, with good cocktails too! Love to return again. Keep the salt level down.

✨ HighlightWe went at noon on a weekday and fortunately had reservations since most tables were taken. The restaurant was fairly small and the cuisine is Sri Lankan and we tried the podi dosa, egg hoppers and the string hoppers with the jackfruit curry, sambar, pork curry and the aubergine dish. For drinks we had the salted buttermilk and the shot of litchi arrack. The food was overall flavorsome and my one grouse is that accompaniments to the dosa and hoppers eg. sambar and curries have to be separately ordered. This is in contrast to South Indian restaurants where these are given along with the dish. Also portion sizes for some of the dishes viz. the aubergine vegetable were tiny. It was our anniversary and the restaurant generously provided a chocolate cake which was kind of them.

✨ HighlightI was very excited to for my visit to Hunan as they idea of not choosing the dishes you would eat was very appealing to me. It was an interesting concept and the restaurant is in a really nice part of London so the walk there was very pleasant. It is an expensive restaurant so you expected a certain level of quality of service, and I can say that, for us, the service was exceptional. The food was also delicious and overall I had a wonderful time. However, for the restaurant price point, the presentation was lacking. Tattered menus and poorly presented dishes that you could find at much cheaper restaurants, that was not what I was expecting. The restaurant was established in 1982 and it honestly feels like it hasn't been updated since then. Presentation really would go a long way with this restaurant because the food is good. A little more care with the plating process and some new menus would make a world of difference here. If you have the money and you just want a relaxing evening of minimal decision making, excellent service, and good food, then Hunan is lovely. If there was an update on the presentation, I would definitely try it again. ✨ HighlightThe food didn’t live up to the hype of it being booked 3-6 months in advance. The service was good. It was very hot inside as they had heaters running. Almost all the food lacked flavours were used to for Thai food. The egg fried rice, the chicken stir fry and the pork special were the only good dishes. There are better Thai places in London. They only take cash. We paid £90 for 4 people.

✨ HighlightUnbelievably good omakase sushi experience, comparable to dining in Japan. The specialty of Maru is aged ingredients, and the fact that they source and process them locally makes for a fantastic blend of UK/European and Japanese approaches. Above all, the cooking and service team are absolute stars - approachable, friendly, funny, yet dead serious about their craft. Take the other reviews that make negative remarks about the staff with a huge grain of salt, as I could not fault them a single bit. Will be returning as often as I can.

✨ HighlightNice little restaurant. Good variety of dishes, but other than the chili oil, our noodle dishes were lacking in flavor, very simple. Not a fan of the pig's ears, but mostly a personal distaste for the texture. Great service, quickly served. Drinks/teas were a bit overpriced, but they are happy to serve only tap water.

The food was great but definitely not worth waiting an hour plus for so I’d recommend coming before opening before the queue starts building. My highlights were the chestnut buns and chilli aubergine with minced pork, the duck pancakes were good but the duck was a little dry. Also, it goes without saying, but this isn’t the kind of place you come for a catch up. You sit, eat and leave.

✨ HighlightAbsolutely terrible experience at Thattukada! We ordered banana fritters expecting a delicious treat, but instead, we received two tiny, finger sized pieces for a whopping £3.49 each pair. They tasted and smelled like fish, prawn crackers, pappadom, and whatever else was cooked in that reused oil. It was disgusting and made us sick, with that awful oil all over our hands. Unfortunately, we bought 8 fritters and ended up throwing away 6 of them. Never again! I normally don’t give one-star reviews to any business, but Thattukada truly deserves it for showing such disrespect to their food and customers. Really pathetic! I recommend everyone to think twice before going there! ————————————————————————— Adding to my review today, the 6th of July, I received a reply accusing me of writing a fake review! We bought our meal from Thattukada as a takeaway. The receptionist went into the kitchen to prepare our order. The pictures were, of course, taken at our home. You can see my star rating to understand my level as a local guide - do you really think I would write a fake review? Absolutely ridiculous! I would recommend you may please take a lesson from my as well as the other recent 1 star reviews and understand the importance of good food & good customer services.
