Went here for the first time today with a friend. We walked in, sat at the bar, where you can watch everything being made and got the £38pp tasting menu. It was delicious and we left feeling full. We also got the corn and saffron ice cream which was interesting, but not needed to complete the meal. Loved it here and definitely plan on returning.
We booked our table at 6:30. Promptly seated. Food was ok not a traditional Sri Lankan food. It’s a modern whitewashed style cooking. Recommend : grilled chicken saffron pongal, and corn coconut coriander sambal. Avoid Devon crab with kitty roti. Not Worth it. £22.50 for a small quenelle of crab meat. If you really want to try srilankan food There are many better place Like hoppers, Virundhu Street Kitchen, Karapincha, Apollo Banana Leaf, Jaffna House. This is just another restaurant who want to make big bucks quickly and fail to give wholesome experiences of Sri Lankan food.
Back after a too long absence, I was given a lovely welcome and enjoyed the same old warmth of the serving staff although, naturally for London, they seemed to be mainly new. The food did not disappoint, except for the smoked haddock curry which contained the tiniest amount of fish imaginable.Similarly, at the neighbouring table, guests were diappointed with the amount of crab in their crab curry. I do hope the mangement is not trying to cut on costs by eeking out key products to make them go further.
Oof. Tasted nice, but WAY too expensive. £19 for a meal the size of a starter. I’m not even sure it’s Sri Lankan, as someone with Sri Lankan heritage didn’t recognise any of the dishes. Poor 👎🏼
