Pudong Development Bank (Fazhan Yinhang)

The Pudong Development Bank building, also known as Fazhan Yinhang, is a magnificent neoclassical structure located at 12 The Bund, one of Shanghai's most iconic waterfront addresses. Originally built in 1921 for the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC), this building was once described as 'the most luxurious building east of Suez.' Its grand dome, Corinthian columns, and intricate mosaics make it a standout among the Bund's architectural gems. Today, it serves as the headquarters of the Shanghai Pudong Development Bank, and visitors can enter the lobby to admire the stunning octagonal dome with its zodiac mosaics, marble staircases, and bronze statues. 历史背景

Designed by architect George Leopold Wilson and completed in 1923, the building was the headquarters of HSBC's Shanghai branch. It was later used by the Shanghai Municipal Government before becoming the Pudong Development Bank in the 1990s. The building is a protected cultural relic.
