Catedral Primada de Bogota

Catedral Primada de Bogotá, also known as the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, is the largest and most important Catholic church in Colombia. Situated on the historic Plaza de Bolívar in the heart of La Candelaria, this neoclassical masterpiece dominates the square with its grand facade and twin towers. Inside, the cathedral features a soaring nave, ornate altars, and beautiful stained glass windows. The main altar houses a revered statue of the Virgin Mary, and the side chapels contain works of colonial art and relics of saints. Немного истории

Construction began in 1807 on the site of earlier churches, and the cathedral was consecrated in 1823. It was designed by Spanish architect Fray Domingo de Petrés and later remodeled. It has witnessed key events in Colombian history, including the funeral of Simón Bolívar.
