✨ HighlightI’m so devastated to leave this review. I planned to come here for weeks and expected an inventive, unforgettable, high quality experience. Let’s just say I will never forget it, but for all the wrong reasons. There was a point where I genuinely questioned if I was getting scammed. I literally had to laugh my way through the meal. I kept picturing Ashton Kutcher jumping out from a dark corner. Every dish somehow tasted like mushy boat water or crunchy scorched herbal paper. I think they try way too hard to make the texture the main feature instead of the taste. As a “fine dining” experience, the number one priority should be refined and diverse flavors, especially when your senses are intentionally heightened. I’m a vegetarian, so I made an assumption that maybe they aren’t used to catering to plant-based needs in regards to flavor — turns out the owner also runs a vegetarian restaurant next door!? I’m sincerely so confused. The entire vegetarian menu needs review for a more rewarding, flavor-forward experience. I finished my meal so quickly because I just wanted it to be over, each bite somehow more disappointing than the last. I was asked if I wanted a second portion of anything, and for the first time in my life I had to turn down a complimentary dish (bare in mind there were 11 dishes and literally none of them were worth a second helping). For context — I’m a huge foodie who has eaten in 35 countries around the world and this will go down as the worst dining experience of my life. Everything else aside from the food was awesome. But judging by the fact I paid 10x the amount of a typical (far more flavorful and satisfying) Vietnamese dish, I was disappointed to say the least. Afterwards I walked down the street to get a Banh Mi for .50 cents and enjoyed it more than every dish at Noir combined.→

✨ HighlightWhat an experience strong into this wonderful antique establishment. Immediately felt warm, cozy and comfortable in an antique, historical setting with interesting, old-time antiques that are priceless with so many stories to see and learn from every piece of decor in here. I ordered the lasagna and had one of their signature TWG tea which summed up a great and memorable lunch. Special mention on their garden sale which included surprising slices of yummy, sweet mangoes in it. Highly recommended and you better catch your last antique experience here fast as I heard they are sadly weeks away from permanently closing.→

✨ HighlightMy family and I had a wonderful meal here recently, and it was extra special because my mom absolutely loved it. That’s a huge compliment, as she’s not only a fantastic cook but also someone who rarely eats out. I was a bit nervous introducing her to this restaurant, but all the food was spectacular! Everything was well-seasoned, made with quality ingredients, and there were plenty of traditional Vietnamese options to choose from. The egg tofu with minced meat was definitely the highlight, though all the dishes were delicious. The atmosphere was fine, though I was hoping to sit upstairs as I usually do for the nice view. Unfortunately, the staff mentioned they hadn’t opened the upstairs section yet, which was a little disappointing since it was already around 4:30 pm. But no worries, we still had a great time. Overall, I highly recommend this place—great food and a lovely experience with the family!→

✨ HighlightGreat flavours in a bustling, air-conditioned environment. Had the roast chicken with broken rice alongside fried fishcake, and both were great. Reasonable prices and excellent service too. This is the place to go after wandering about the city centre. The absence of hordes of bus-ferried tour groups here is an amazing plus too. Come here before that changes.→

✨ HighlightI had intended to try the Kung Fu Wok upstairs, but was told to go to first floor. I ordered and ate Chinese food, but as I was waiting for the food, I saw the display menu on the table and felt I needed to try it. There were no prices, so I was a little thrown off by the bill. I know, in general, Mexican food is more expensive in Vietnam than a lot of other food, but each item was more than the Chinese food. On the bill, it said "steak taco," so I was a little worried and asked the waitress, but she said it's the burrito. I couldn't look at it until I got back home. This was a very pleasant surprise~ I will say, the take-out packaging is outstanding! The portions looked much bigger than the Chinese food I had. For the mac and cheese - it definitely was. *I had both items over the next two days, so I did not have them fresh. However, both tasted good. The Spicy BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger Mac (199K$7.85) was much larger than I expected. It might be hard to tell from my photos, but it was in a sizable container, and it had some weight to it. It could be just my personal taste. I thought it was great. Something I'd find at a nice diner in the US. The Mojo Steak & Eggs Burritos (239K/$9.40) ended up looking exactly like the menu photo, except only one hashbrown. Looking at the actual menu, it says I was supposed to get two, but they did give me some chips - if that's supposed to come with it or not. I thought they gave me some guacamole, but it was lime chili sauce... which is probably my favorite Vietnamese sauce. You do get two burritos, but if they were a smidgen bigger, that would have been great. The steak and eggs were good. The refried beans were something to be desired... It was just bean paste... and not great. I did get a little stomachache after eating half of one burrito, but it went away. I had the other half and the same thing. I did have to use the bathroom after the second one. However, it might have more to do with me eating it as the first thing in the morning. I ate the other burrito that night and had no stomachache. No service fee or VAT (I still spent quite a bit).→

✨ HighlightThis is a high-end riverside restaurant with a modern and minimalist interior that complements a casual dress code. Set against a serene riverside backdrop, the wooden deck allows diners to enjoy the rhythmic flow of the water right beneath their feet. The restaurant boasts a premium price point, but the food is rather ordinary for the cost. Service quality is moderate, offering a level of attentiveness that feels somewhat average. In Ho Chi Minh City, there are numerous restaurants at this price range offering superior service. Would I recommend it? Perhaps once or twice to impress a romantic partner or to experience the ambiance alone, as a novelty. However, it is not a place I would suggest frequenting for the food or service. 좋은 시간 갖으세요!→

Paired with sourdough bread, it was both hearty and satisfying. At VND185,000, it felt like great value for such a well-prepared dish. We were the only tourists in the semi full restaurant, otherwise it was full of locals. It is also commendable that locally sourced ingredients were incorporated into the dishes. Akuna may be priced higher than many restaurants but it was worth every dollar.
