Perched on Wushan Mountain in the Shangcheng District, the Chenghuang Pagoda is a striking multi-tiered structure that has become a symbol of Hangzhou. Originally built during the Song Dynasty, the current pagoda was reconstructed in the 1990s, blending traditional architecture with modern engineering. Visitors ascend through winding paths and stairs, passing ancient trees and stone carvings, before reaching the pagoda's base. Inside, each floor houses exhibits on local history and culture, including calligraphy and paintings. The highlight is the top-floor observation deck, which offers sweeping views of West Lake, the Qiantang River, and the city skyline. The pagoda is especially beautiful at dusk when the lights begin to twinkle. It's a serene escape from the urban bustle, ideal for history buffs and photographers alike.
