The Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) is a large art museum in downtown Toronto, on Dundas Street West in the Grange Park neighbourhood. Its collection includes over 120,000 works from Canadian, First Nations, Inuit, African, European, and Oceanic artists. The museum complex includes The Grange, a historic 1817 Georgian manor, and a modern building designed in part by Frank Gehry.

Un peu d'histoire

Founded in 1900 as the Art Museum of Toronto by private citizens, it was renamed the Art Gallery of Toronto in 1919 and the Art Gallery of Ontario in 1966. The museum acquired The Grange in 1911 and opened it as its first permanent building in 1913. Major expansions followed, including a 2004–2008 redevelopment by Frank Gehry, his first work in Canada.
