✨ HighlightAs a winner of the James Beard “America’s Classics” award, a restaurant has to be family-owned, operating for over a decade, and serve “quality food that reflects the character of its community.” Los Hernandez seems to check all of those boxes. The interior was cute and homey, and tamales were delicious. I got the lunch combo with asparagus and pepperjack tamales and felt that the texture of the asparagus was an excellent replacement for meat. The masa had great moisture and texture too. It was a bit expensive and I felt like the salsa quantity provided was too little, but otherwise a great experience.→

✨ HighlightI have been on a mission to find a great BBQ in the DMV area, and my search continues. The service and atmosphere are excellent. I ordered brisket, pork ribs, beans, cornbread, sausage, and mac and cheese. The brisket fell apart beautifully but lacked flavor and was lukewarm. The pork ribs also looked appealing, though they were a bit salty and lukewarm. The beans were excellent, especially if you enjoy a Spanish-style preparation. The cornbread and mac and cheese earned a solid five stars from me. The sausage was just okay, and the BBQ sauce was also mediocre. I recommend that the restaurant keep the meat in the warmer until it’s ordered to prevent it from being served cold.→

✨ Highlight**5 stars aren’t enough!** I can’t believe I didn’t visit La Tarasca sooner. I arrived just before they opened, and noticed the parking lot was already filled with people waiting in their cars—a great sign! Inside, we were warmly greeted by the owner, who shared her family’s rich history and the inspiration behind the restaurant. Instead of the usual chips, they served pickled carrots, which was a delightful and unique experience! I tried my first tamale here, and WOW, I never knew what I was missing. I also ordered the carnitas, and they were absolutely fantastic. I will definitely be back! Thank you so much!→

The quality of the seafood is truly top-notch, and you can taste the care and expertise that goes into every dish. The service was just as impressive. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive, making the experience all the more enjoyable. They even served our dog water & came back & gave him treats! A big tip: **make reservations**! ✨ HighlightMy friends had tried the 7-course chef's menu at this restaurant before and thought it was amazing, so even though it was a bit out of the way for our weekend road trip, they brought me here specifically. And it was indeed incredibly delicious! My friends were also pleasantly surprised to find that every dish, except for the dessert, was different from what they had before, but just as delicious! The seafood appetizers were extremely fresh, the steak was cooked to perfection, and the pasta and fish were uniquely and wonderfully seasoned. We loved and enjoyed every single dish! The dessert was a bit too sweet for me, but it was beautifully presented with a unique fragrance. The price is very affordable for fine dining. We were joking that you can only have the two appetizers for the same price & quality in Seattle. I will definitely come back, and I highly recommend it to anyone who has the chance to pass by! Also the service was so great, especially after we had some bad experiences in other restaurants during our road trip...→

The server made sure we had everything we needed and helpfully guided me, a first timer though the menu. Our food and drinks came out quickly and the server was welcoming and polite through out the full experience. Food and Drinks The food was pretty good. I had the tomato braised meatballs, shrimp alfredo and classic tiramisu. The standouts were the meatballs and the tiramisu both flavorful and tasty. The alfredo was good but i would love to try other food on the menu. And how can I forget my drink! the Limoncellotini was delightfully refreshing and tasty. i would definitely try this drink again. ✨ HighlightStopped in here for a quick glass of wine and some oysters after hearing great things about this restaurant. I was seated promptly at the bar. The service was excellent. The oysters were delicious, fresh, and served with a really flavorful mignonette. The fresh sourdough was incredible, and the butter was served soft - which I definitely will judge a restaurant for if they bring me cold butter with my bread. That was not the case here. It shows care about the customer's experience. I can't wait to come back for a full meal to try some of their entrees. And more oysters!→

Drinks were made by Nico and he did not disappoint. The jerk wings were delicious especially with the dipping sauce that came with them. We also tried the Trini beef pie. He stated it was spicy but we didn't get any spice, it's was still flavorful. My friend did a personal bowl, I think that's what it was called. It came with roti, curried chicken, and chick peas. The dish did not disappoint. I ordered the pepperpot off the dinner menu. It had brisket, beef stew meat, and oxtail. The flavors were great. Personally I would've liked a bit more oxtail, especially since I got all fat from the brisket. We shared the bread pudding. The bread pudding was a bit overcooked.
