Jebel al-Madhbah, or the 'High Place of Sacrifice,' is a sacred mountaintop site where Nabataeans performed religious rituals. The ascent involves climbing over 800 steps carved into the rock, passing tombs and rock-cut channels. At the summit, visitors find two altars, one for offerings and one for burning incense, carved from the bedrock. The panoramic views of Petra's royal tombs, the Treasury, and the rugged landscape are breathtaking. This site offers a tangible connection to Nabataean spirituality and a rewarding hike.
