Vicenza Cathedral, also known as the Duomo di Vicenza, is a majestic blend of Gothic and Renaissance architecture dominating the city's skyline. Its most striking feature is the large dome designed by Andrea Palladio, added in the 16th century. The interior is spacious and light-filled, with a nave lined by columns and side chapels containing notable artworks, including a polyptych by Lorenzo Veneziano and a painting by Paolo Veronese. The crypt houses the remains of local saints. Visitors can climb the bell tower for panoramic views of Vicenza. The cathedral's façade, though incomplete, showcases intricate stonework and a rose window.

Don't miss

  • Palladio's dome, a Renaissance masterpiece visible from across the city
  • Lorenzo Veneziano's polyptych of the Virgin and Child (1356) in the left transept
  • Paolo Veronese's 'Sacrifice of Isaac' (c. 1570) in the chapel of the Holy Sacrament
  • The crypt with relics of Saint Leontius and other martyrs
  • Climbing the bell tower for views of the city and surrounding hills
