The Ramanathaswamy Temple is a major Hindu pilgrimage site on Rameswaram Island, dedicated to Lord Shiva. Its most striking feature is the 1,200-meter-long corridor lined with ornate pillars, one of the longest in India. Visitors walk through this colonnade to reach the inner sanctum, where they can witness rituals and offerings. The temple also houses 22 sacred water springs (tirthams), each believed to have healing properties. Pilgrims typically bathe in these wells before praying, following a centuries-old tradition. The architecture blends Dravidian and local styles, with towering gopurams and intricate carvings.
