Naniwagu Site

The Naniwagu Site is an archaeological park in central Osaka that preserves the remains of the Naniwa Palace, which served as the imperial capital in the 7th century. Visitors can walk among the reconstructed foundation stones and low stone walls that outline the palace's grand halls and courtyards. A small on-site museum displays pottery, roof tiles, and other artifacts unearthed during excavations, providing context about life in ancient Japan. 历史背景

Excavations in the 1950s revealed the foundations of the Naniwa Palace, built in 645 AD when Emperor Kotoku moved the capital to this location. The palace was used intermittently until the 8th century, after which the capital moved to Nara. The site was designated a National Historic Site in 1952.
