Xuanmiao Temple

Xuanmiao Temple, also called the Temple of Mystery, is a historic Taoist temple located on Guanqian Street in the heart of Suzhou. Originally built in the 3rd century during the Jin Dynasty, the temple has been rebuilt and expanded over the centuries, with the current main hall dating from the Song Dynasty. The temple complex features traditional Chinese architecture with intricate carvings, stone bridges, and peaceful courtyards. 历史背景

Founded in 276 AD during the Western Jin Dynasty, Xuanmiao Temple is one of the oldest Taoist temples in Suzhou. It has undergone several reconstructions, with the Sanqing Hall (main hall) dating from the Song Dynasty. The temple was a center of Taoist learning and remains an active place of worship.
