Pingjiang Road is one of Suzhou's best-preserved ancient streets, dating back over 800 years to the Song Dynasty. Stretching about 1.6 kilometers along a canal, it offers a glimpse into the city's historic water town charm. The road is paved with cobblestones and flanked by traditional white-walled, black-tiled buildings that house teahouses, silk shops, art galleries, and snack vendors. Visitors can wander at a leisurely pace, crossing stone bridges and watching boats glide along the canal. The atmosphere is especially enchanting in the evening when lanterns are lit. Pingjiang Road is a pedestrian-only zone, making it ideal for walking. It connects to other historic sites like the Humble Administrator's Garden and the Suzhou Museum.
