Melville Koppies is a 50-hectare nature reserve nestled in the heart of Johannesburg, offering a peaceful escape from the city's hustle. The reserve features rocky ridges, grasslands, and a small stream, with well-marked trails that lead visitors through a landscape shaped by ancient volcanic activity. On a guided walk, you can spot indigenous plants like aloes and proteas, as well as birds, small mammals, and even the occasional zebra or wildebeest. The site also contains Stone Age tools and Iron Age smelting furnaces, adding a historical layer to the natural beauty.
