The building was constructed in the 1930s as a cultural center for workers of the Likhachev Automobile Plant (ZIL). Designed by the Vesnin brothers, it is a masterpiece of Soviet constructivist architecture. After a period of decline, it was renovated and reopened as a contemporary cultural venue.
