Quiapo Church, officially the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene, is a focal point of Filipino Catholic devotion. The church houses the centuries-old Black Nazarene statue, believed to be miraculous, which is the centerpiece of the massive January procession. Visitors experience a vibrant, crowded atmosphere with devotees often seen walking on their knees as an act of penance. The church's interior is simple but filled with religious fervor, and the surrounding plaza teems with vendors selling religious items and traditional healers.
