Museo del Obispado

The Museo del Obispado, also known as the Bishop's Palace, is a striking neoclassical building perched on a hill overlooking Monterrey. Originally built in the late 18th century as a residence for the local bishop, it later served as a fortress, hospital, and even a prison. Today, it houses the Regional Museum of Nuevo León, presenting exhibits on the state's history from pre-Hispanic times through the Mexican Revolution. Visitors can explore rooms filled with artifacts, period furniture, and historical documents, while the building's thick stone walls and arched corridors evoke its storied past. Một chút lịch sử

Construction began in 1787 under Bishop Rafael José Verger, but the building was never used as a bishop's residence. It served as a military fortress during the U.S.-Mexican War and the French intervention, and later as a hospital and prison before becoming a museum in 1956.
