Museo del Obispado

The Museo del Obispado, also known as the Bishop's Palace, is a striking neoclassical building perched on a hill overlooking Monterrey. Originally built in the late 18th century as a residence for the local bishop, it later served as a fortress, hospital, and even a prison. Today, it houses the Regional Museum of Nuevo León, presenting exhibits on the state's history from pre-Hispanic times through the Mexican Revolution. Немного истории

Construction began in 1787 under Bishop Rafael José Verger, but the building was never used as a bishop's residence. It served as a military fortress during the U.S.-Mexican War and the French intervention, and later as a hospital and prison before becoming a museum in 1956.
