The Basilica of Our Lady of Zapopan is a significant religious landmark in the Guadalajara area, drawing thousands of pilgrims annually. The basilica's striking architecture blends Baroque and Neoclassical styles, with a distinctive domed sanctuary. Inside, the revered statue of the Virgin of Zapopan, a small, dark-skinned figure known as 'La Generala', is displayed above the main altar. The basilica is especially lively during the October pilgrimage, when the statue is paraded through the city.
