Shaheed Minar stands as a solemn tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for India's independence. Located in the heart of Kolkata's sprawling Maidan, this 48-meter tall monument was originally built in 1828 as a victory column but was later rededicated. Visitors can admire its Egyptian-style obelisk and climb the internal staircase for panoramic views of the city skyline and the lush green expanse of the Maidan. The monument is a popular gathering spot for political rallies and cultural events, adding to its historical significance.
