Princess of Wales Theatre

The Princess of Wales Theatre is a modern, state-of-the-art venue located on King Street West in Toronto's Entertainment District. Opened in 1993, it was built by Canadian theatre impresario Garth Drabinsky and named after Diana, Princess of Wales. The theatre features a striking glass facade and a lavish interior with red velvet seats, gold accents, and a large chandelier. The Princess of Wales Theatre was designed by architect Peter Smith and opened on May 26, 1993, with the musical 'Show Boat'. It was built as a companion to the nearby Royal Alexandra Theatre, also owned by the same company. The theatre was named in honor of Diana, Princess of Wales, who visited Toronto in 1991.
