The Princess of Wales Theatre is a modern, state-of-the-art venue located on King Street West in Toronto's Entertainment District. Opened in 1993, it was built by Canadian theatre impresario Garth Drabinsky and named after Diana, Princess of Wales. The theatre features a striking glass facade and a lavish interior with red velvet seats, gold accents, and a large chandelier. With a seating capacity of over 2,000, it is one of the largest theatres in the city. The stage is designed to accommodate large-scale musicals and plays, and it has hosted major productions such as 'The Lion King', 'Hamilton', and 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child'. The acoustics are excellent, and sightlines are good from most seats. The theatre is part of a complex that includes shops and restaurants, making it a convenient destination for a night out. The surrounding area is lively, with many bars and eateries popular with pre-theatre crowds.
