Galle Face Green is Colombo's beloved oceanfront promenade, a long stretch of open lawn and seawall along the Indian Ocean, and the city's favourite gathering place, especially at sunset and in the evening. As the sun goes down, the green fills with families flying kites, couples strolling, and crowds drawn by rows of street-food vendors selling Sri Lankan favourites: isso wade (prawn fritters), kottu, and more. The sea breeze, the crashing waves, and the lively, local atmosphere make it a quintessential Colombo experience.
