Long Live the Victory of Mao Zedong Thought

Long Live the Victory of Mao Zedong Thought is a large epoxy resin statue of Chairman Mao Zedong on Zhongshan Square in central Shenyang. It stands 9 meters tall on a 9-meter base, surrounded by 58 statues of worker-peasant-soldier heroes. Erected in 1970 during the Cultural Revolution, it is one of the few major provincial monuments from that era still standing.

The monument was built by students from the Art Academy over two years, supervised by a committee of peasants and workers. It was inaugurated on October 1, 1970, the 21st anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
