Casa do Rio Vermelho is a museum dedicated to the lives and works of Jorge Amado, one of Brazil's most beloved authors, and his wife Zélia Gattai. Housed in their former residence in the Rio Vermelho neighborhood of Salvador, the museum offers an intimate glimpse into their personal and creative worlds. The house retains much of its original charm, with rooms furnished as they were when the couple lived there, filled with personal belongings, photographs, and a vast library. Visitors can explore the lush garden, where Amado often entertained friends and wrote, and see the famous 'tree of writers' where he would hang his hammock. The museum also hosts temporary exhibitions and cultural events, making it a vibrant hub for literature and Bahian culture. Its location in Rio Vermelho, a bohemian area known for its lively bars and restaurants, adds to the experience, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the neighborhood that inspired much of Amado's work.
