The Fox Theatre is Atlanta's most opulent and beloved performance venue, a lavish 1929 movie palace whose interior was designed to evoke an exotic Moorish courtyard, complete with a domed 'sky' ceiling twinkling with 'stars' and drifting clouds, ornate Egyptian and Arabian detailing, and the mighty 'Mighty Mo' Möller pipe organ. Saved from demolition by a passionate community campaign in the 1970s, it now hosts touring Broadway shows, concerts, and films in a setting that's a spectacle in its own right.

For visitors not catching a show, behind-the-scenes guided tours reveal the architecture, the organ, and the building's dramatic rescue story. It's a National Historic Landmark and one of the finest surviving movie palaces in the US, worth seeing for the room as much as the performance.

Um pouco de história

Opened in 1929, originally part-conceived as a Shriners temple before becoming a grand movie palace, the Fox narrowly escaped demolition in 1975 when the 'Save the Fox' campaign rallied the city. Restored and run by a nonprofit, it became a National Historic Landmark and Atlanta cultural institution.
