Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport is the primary gateway to Ladakh, located about 4 km from Leh town center. Situated at 3,256 meters (10,682 feet), it is one of the highest commercial airports in the world. The approach is breathtaking, with flights descending through a narrow valley flanked by stark, rugged mountains. The small terminal is functional and often busy with trekkers and pilgrims. Due to high altitude, flights operate only in clear weather, typically from early morning to midday.
