The Petersen House, located across the street from Ford's Theatre, is where President Abraham Lincoln was carried after being shot on April 14, 1865. He died there the next morning. Visitors can tour the modest boarding house rooms, including the small bedroom where Lincoln passed away, preserved to reflect its 1865 appearance. The site offers a somber, intimate glimpse into the final hours of one of America's most revered leaders.
