Un peu d'histoire

Gopi Talav was built in the 17th century during the reign of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, possibly by a noble named Gopi. It served as a major water source for Surat, which was then a thriving port city. The stepwell was restored in the 20th century and converted into a public park.
