Estadio El Campín

Estadio Nemesio Camacho El Campín is a Bogotá stadium inaugurated for the Bolivarian Games on 10 August 1938. Its name comes from the former camping area on which it was built, and its high-altitude setting at 2,553 metres has shaped its sporting history.

Un peu d'histoire

The stadium was inaugurated on 10 August 1938 for the Bolivarian Games, on land offered by councilman Luis Camacho. It is named after Nemesio Camacho, a former streetcar manager. The name 'Campín' derives from 'camping,' as the area was once a camping zone. It became a football venue around 1946 and hosted the 2001 Copa América final, where Colombia defeated Mexico 1–0. Capacity peaked at 62,500 in 1968 but has since been reduced through renovations.
