Jin Mao Tower

The Jin Mao Tower is one of Shanghai's most iconic skyscrapers, standing 421 meters tall with 88 floors. Designed by the Chicago-based firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, its design blends traditional Chinese pagoda aesthetics with modern skyscraper engineering. Visitors can ascend to the Skywalk on the 88th floor, an open-air observation deck that provides panoramic views of the Huangpu River, the Bund, and the sprawling Pudong skyline. The tower also houses the Grand Hyatt Shanghai, which occupies floors 53 to 87 and features a stunning atrium that rises 152 meters. The building's distinctive stepped silhouette is especially dramatic when illuminated at night. Un peu d'histoire

Construction of the Jin Mao Tower began in 1994 and was completed in 1999. It was the tallest building in China until 2007 and remains a symbol of Shanghai's economic rise. The tower's name means 'Golden Prosperity' in Chinese.
