La Nouvelle Liberté (The New Freedom) is an iconic 12-meter-tall statue in Douala, depicting a man breaking free from chains. Erected to commemorate Cameroon's independence, it stands in a roundabout in the Deïdo neighborhood and has become a beloved symbol of the city.
