Flight booking, honestly answered
Is booking on Tuesday really cheaper?
Mostly a myth now, prices reprice constantly. What actually works: booking 3-8 weeks out for short-haul and 2-5 months for long-haul, and flying mid-week instead of Friday or Sunday.
Why do prices change after I search twice?
It's usually inventory buckets selling out, not your cookies. Incognito never hurts though. If a fare jumps, checking a nearby date often finds the old price bucket.
Should I book through a booking site or the airline directly?
If the price is within a few dollars, book direct: changes and delay handling are far easier. Agencies win when they are meaningfully cheaper, just know that support then goes through them.
One-way or round trip: which is cheaper?
For low-cost carriers and most of Asia, two one-ways often cost about the same and give more flexibility. For long-haul legacy airlines, round trips usually beat two singles. Compare both before you pay.
