Wengen is a picturesque, car-free village perched on a sunny terrace above the Lauterbrunnen Valley in the Bernese Alps. Accessible only by train, it offers a tranquil alpine atmosphere with traditional wooden chalets, flower-bedecked balconies, and sweeping views of the Jungfrau, Mönch, and Eiger. The village is a popular base for hiking, skiing, and sightseeing, with the Jungfrau Railway passing through on its way to the Jungfraujoch. In winter, Wengen is a ski resort with slopes for all levels and hosts the famous Lauberhorn ski race. In summer, it's a starting point for trails to Männlichen, Kleine Scheidegg, and the Lauterbrunnen Valley. Despite its popularity, Wengen retains a quiet, authentic charm.
