Commissioned by Timur in 1399 after his victorious campaign in India, Bibi-Khanym Mosque was intended to be the grandest mosque in the Islamic world. Its massive entrance portal, towering minarets, and colossal dome dominate the skyline. The mosque's courtyard is vast, and the remaining tilework hints at its former splendor. According to legend, the mosque was named after Timur's wife. Despite earthquake damage and partial collapse, ongoing restoration has revived much of its grandeur, making it a must-see for visitors.
