The Telluride Historic District encompasses the core of the original mining town, with over 200 preserved structures dating from the 1880s to early 1900s. Designated a National Historic Landmark, it offers a glimpse into Telluride's silver boom past. Visitors can walk the streets to see Victorian homes, the old jail, the Sheridan Opera House, and the New Sheridan Hotel. Interpretive plaques provide context, and many buildings now house shops, galleries, and restaurants.
