McCaig's Tower is a prominent unfinished Victorian folly built in 1897 by local banker John Stuart McCaig. Inspired by the Colosseum in Rome, the structure was intended to house a museum and art gallery but was left incomplete after McCaig's death. Today, the tower's open-air interior is a public garden, and its elevated position offers breathtaking 360-degree views of Oban, the Isle of Mull, Kerrera, and the Firth of Lorn. It's a popular spot for photography and a peaceful retreat above the town.

Don't miss

  • Panoramic views of Oban Bay, the Isle of Mull, and the surrounding islands from the top
  • The unique unfinished architecture, with its granite walls and arched windows
  • The tranquil public garden inside the tower, perfect for a picnic or quiet reflection
