Eilean Musdile is a small tidal island at the entrance to Loch Linnhe, marking the southern approach to Oban. Its most prominent feature is the 19th-century lighthouse, built by the Stevenson family, which still guides vessels through the Firth of Lorn. The island is a haven for seabirds, with colonies of guillemots, razorbills, and shags nesting on its rocky cliffs. Visitors can view the island from boat tours or from the nearby mainland, appreciating its rugged beauty and the rhythmic flash of the lighthouse against the seascape.

Don't miss

  • Observe seabird colonies nesting on the cliffs during spring and summer.
  • View the historic Stevenson lighthouse from a boat tour.
  • Photograph the island's dramatic setting at the mouth of Loch Linnhe.
