✨ HighlightAs a winner of the James Beard “America’s Classics” award, a restaurant has to be family-owned, operating for over a decade, and serve “quality food that reflects the character of its community.” Los Hernandez seems to check all of those boxes. The interior was cute and homey, and tamales were delicious. I got the lunch combo with asparagus and pepperjack tamales and felt that the texture of the asparagus was an excellent replacement for meat. The masa had great moisture and texture too. It was a bit expensive and I felt like the salsa quantity provided was too little, but otherwise a great experience.→

✨ Highlight**5 stars aren’t enough!** I can’t believe I didn’t visit La Tarasca sooner. I arrived just before they opened, and noticed the parking lot was already filled with people waiting in their cars—a great sign! Inside, we were warmly greeted by the owner, who shared her family’s rich history and the inspiration behind the restaurant. Instead of the usual chips, they served pickled carrots, which was a delightful and unique experience! I tried my first tamale here, and WOW, I never knew what I was missing. I also ordered the carnitas, and they were absolutely fantastic. I will definitely be back! Thank you so much!→

✨ HighlightFriends brought us here the day after Thanksgiving. Everything about our visit was excellent. Loved the cozy decor and seating, and the staff were super friendly. I had worked up an appetite and wanted 3 tacos, but they were $5.50 each and someone else was picking up the tab, so I ordered 2. At first sight, I questioned if they'd be enough. While they only loosely resembled a taco in form, each one was a little hand-crafted burst of flavor. The taco special of the day was pork with parsnip puree, cranberry, and pomegranate was next level. Even though I consider myself a taco purist, I was not complaining. I thoroughly enjoyed their interpretation. They were so enjoyable that 2 were plenty as a meal.→

✨ HighlightWhat better way of spending a Saturday afternoon than getting access to the number one breakfast burrito spot in DC. I’ve heard about La Tejana through different networks on social media. We got there around 11:30am and waited about 45 minutes until we placed our order. The order came out relatively quick, which was nice. It’s a cool little spot and a neighborhood gem. They are open from 7:30 AM to 1 PM and then they open again at 5 PM. They have a very friendly staff and the quality of their food is top tier. My friend and I sat upstairs, which had plenty of seating. I ended up getting four tacos and it was the perfect amount of food for me. My favorite was the 512. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like they do pick up orders. The restaurant has been open for about two years now and every weekend the line is out the door as you can see in the images. Looking forward to getting a chance to go back it’s probably less busier early in the morning.→

✨ HighlightI had a great experience visiting El Cabrito for the first time! I'm from the San Francisco Bay Area and can be particular about Mexican food, and El Cabrito knocked it out of the park! Everything was made to order, and I was able to order entirely in Spanish (one of my measures of taquerias). Service was excellent, the food was and felt authentic, and they accept all payment methods (including Apple Pay!). I'll definitely be back sometime soon and have likely found my new go-to Mexican spot for the Seattle area.→
