The Charles W. Morgan is a National Historic Landmark and the only surviving wooden whaling ship from the 19th-century American whaling fleet. Launched in 1841, the ship made 37 voyages over 80 years, hunting whales in the Pacific and Atlantic. Today, it is fully restored and docked at Mystic Seaport, where visitors can explore its decks, crew quarters, and tryworks. The ship offers a tangible connection to the whaling industry that once drove New England's economy.
Don't miss
- Explore the ship's deck and see the tryworks used to render whale blubber
- Descend below deck to see the cramped crew quarters and captain's cabin
- Learn about whaling history from interpretive signs and costumed guides
