Theatre by the Lake is Keswick's cultural hub, a contemporary venue that replaced the old Blue Box theatre in 1999. Its glass-fronted foyer overlooks Derwentwater, providing a breathtaking backdrop before performances. The main auditorium seats 400, while the smaller Studio Theatre hosts experimental works. The programme spans classic plays, new writing, live music, and family shows, with a summer season that often features Shakespeare and other classics. Visitors can also enjoy the café-bar with terrace views, making it a perfect rainy-day retreat or evening entertainment.
