Blencathra, often called the 'Saddleback' due to its distinctive saddle-shaped summit, is a magnet for experienced hikers and scramblers. Its most famous route, Hall's Fell Ridge, is a Grade 1 scramble that provides an exhilarating ascent with airy drops. The summit, at 868 metres, offers a 360-degree panorama of the Northern Fells, the Solway Firth, and on clear days, the Scottish hills. Despite its rugged nature, the mountain is accessible from the village of Threlkeld, making it a popular challenge for those seeking a more adventurous day out.
