Cat Bells is one of the Lake District's most beloved fells, its name derived from its cat-like silhouette. The hike, though short by mountain standards, is steep in places and rewards walkers with stunning vistas of Derwentwater, the Newlands Valley, and the Skiddaw range. The path is well-trodden, making it accessible for families and casual hikers, yet the summit feels wild and expansive. Many visitors extend the walk along the ridge to Maiden Moor or descend to the shores of Derwentwater for a lakeside finish.
Don't miss
- Summit views over Derwentwater and the Borrowdale Valley
- The distinctive 'cat-like' ridge profile visible from Keswick
- Optional ridge walk to Maiden Moor for extended adventure
