The Carthage amphitheatre is a massive Roman structure built in the 1st century AD, capable of seating 50,000 people for gladiatorial contests and spectacles. Today, only fragments remain: parts of the outer walls, the arena floor, and extensive underground passages (hypogeum) where animals and performers were kept. Visitors can walk among the ruins, imagining the roar of the crowd, and see how the site has been partially reclaimed by vegetation. It offers a tangible connection to Roman entertainment and engineering.
Don't miss

- Remaining sections of the outer wall and seating tiers
