Lago di Vogorno is a man-made reservoir formed by a dam on the Verzasca River, just north of Locarno in the Swiss Alps. Its striking turquoise waters are fed by the crystal-clear river, creating a stunning contrast with the surrounding green hills and rocky cliffs. The lake is a popular spot for swimming in summer, with several access points along its shores where you can dive into the refreshing water. Kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding are also common, as the calm surface allows for easy exploration of the lake's coves and inlets. The Verzasca Dam, famous for its bungee-jumping scene in the James Bond film 'GoldenEye,' towers at the southern end, adding a touch of cinematic drama. Hiking trails wind around the lake, offering panoramic views of the water and the valley. Unlike many alpine lakes, Lago di Vogorno remains relatively warm in summer, making it a favorite for families and water enthusiasts. The area is undeveloped, so you'll find few facilities, just raw natural beauty and the sound of the river.
