Hundwiler Höhi, at 1,306 meters, is a mountain pass and popular outdoor destination in the Appenzell region. The area is a hub for hikers and mountain bikers, with a network of trails that crisscross the rolling hills and meadows. From the pass, you get sweeping views of the Alpstein massif, the Säntis, and on clear days, even Lake Constance. The landscape is characterized by gentle slopes, traditional farmhouses, and grazing cattle. In summer, the trails are lush and green, dotted with wildflowers. The pass is also a starting point for longer hikes, such as the route to the nearby Kronberg.
