Puerta de San Andrés is one of the best-preserved medieval gates in Segovia's ancient city walls. Located on the eastern side of the old town, this sturdy stone archway once served as a key defensive point. Today, visitors can climb to the top of the gate for sweeping views of the Eresma River valley and the distant mountains. The gate itself is a fine example of Romanesque military architecture, with a pointed arch and solid masonry. Walking through the gate, you'll feel transported back to the Middle Ages, and the surrounding area is quiet and less crowded than the main tourist spots. It's an ideal spot for photography, especially at golden hour when the light softens the stone walls.

Don't miss

  • Climb to the top for panoramic views of the countryside
  • Admire the Romanesque stonework and pointed arch
  • Photograph the gate at sunset for dramatic lighting
